I started this painting when Russia bombed a maternity hospital in Ukraine, something we were supposed to know was going to happen but that I still didn’t believe would unravel so brutally. It felt like the the memories of the Balcan war where re-enancting themselves. And beyond the destruction wanted by the insanity of war there lies the gaze of the individual in pain. A piercing gaze, that demand reason of such senseless and inhuman act.
